We are beyond excited to welcome our students to campus this fall! After seven years of designing, constructing, furnishing, and setting up facilities, not to mention recovering from a pandemic, we are finally able to open our new full-sized dance studio, small movement lab, and Black Box Theatre complete with costume- and properties stock rooms, a green room, and even dressing rooms equipped with showers. The new building also boasts fantastic learning labs and shared community spaces ideal for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
We are equipped with the facilities needed for instruction, performance, and community building, and we are poised for growth. Large public events such as the Choreographers’ Showcases and the Annual Faculty and Guest Artist Dance Concerts will be held in the Black Box Theatre, which the Dance Department shares with the Drama and Creative Writing Departments. We plan to deliver the bulk of our studio classes and produce smaller events in the large dance studio. This will allow us to dedicate use of the small movement lab to tutoring, hosting office hours, warming up, and rehearsing small group work.
Students are encouraged to sign up for a tour of facilities and free master classes with our faculty during success week, August 2, 4, and 6, 12:00-2:00 pm!
