ACC Free Table & Rack

This project had its humble beginnings in 2023 as a simple table placed in the hallway of The Art Lab at HLC to help Art students trade supplies with each other. From there it grew to sharing all types of things, got a second layer of table added, and some new clothing racks.

Now in 2026, the Free Table and Rack is still maintained by staff from School of Arts and Creative Industries, and has evolved into a sustainability project and full mutual aid gift economy amongst our ACC students, faculty, staff and even visitors to our campus.

Items for sharing at the table and rack are provided by our students, staff and faculty at ACC, as well as members of our local community.

We believe our work on this project connects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in several ways-

Goal 1: No Poverty- our table and rack provide for those in need, and promotes mutual aid.
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities- participation with this table and rack.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production- this project teaches the importance of responsible consumption by utilizing second-hand items, and diverting from our landfills.

Giving items a chance to be loved is something I love seeing and being able to provide support to a community is amazing. Thank you for what you are doing, it is making a difference.

Thank you so much for creating a self sustaining resource that includes everyone. I love the free table, we’re helping keep things out of the landfills and learning that all we need is each other.

I have so much stuff to give away and this has been a great and super easy way for me to give my stuff away for free to whoever may need it. It makes me so happy when I see all my stuff is gone when I come to see the table the next day.
